Guidelines for Submissions
- We urge you either
to subscribe to E.D. ($20.00 for two issues ($22 if paying via PayPal)) or to purchase a sample
copy ($6.00, including postage) so that you may have an idea of E.D.'s
content and format.
- E.D. publishes
both general and theme-oriented issues. Information about upcoming issues
is generally available in the late fall. Subscribers receive advance notice
of upcoming themes or general issues. Unsolicited manuscripts which do not
meet announced criteria will be returned, as will mss. received past the
announced deadline date.
-
We are now accepting emailed submissions! Please send your entire submission in ONE Word file (.doc/.docx format only) to earthsdaughters@gmail.com. Make sure to include your name, address, and email on every page of your submission. If you would like to include a cover letter, please make that part of your submission file as well.
- All mailed submissions must
be accompanied by a stamped self-addressed envelope (SASE) which is the
same size and carries the same amount of postage as the envelope used for
the submissions. If you do not want your mss. returned, please say so in
your cover letter and include a stamped self-addressed envelope so we may
notify you of our decision regarding your work.
- Please send to our mailing address:
Earth's Daughters
P.O. Box 41, Central Park Station
Buffalo, NY 14215.
- For each issue, writers
are requested to submit only 3 poems or short prose pieces (500 word max), 3 pages
double spaced. Because of formatting limitations, we ask that you keep in
mind that our usual page width margin is approximately five inches. If your
poetry submissions exceed that margin, please indicate where line breaks
can be made.
- Simultaneous submissions
are OK, but we must be notified immediately if the work is accepted elsewhere.
- We prefer unpublished work.
- Once you have submitted
work, please be patient. After the announced deadline
for an issue, it generally takes the collective at least two months to read
through the hundreds of submissions E.D. received. If you must contact us
(change of address or other reason), please email earthsdaughters@gmail.com and be sure
to state the theme of the issue for which your submission was intended and the title(s) of your work.
- We acquire first rights
only, after which the copyright reverts to the writer.
- Contributors will receive
two copies of the issue for which they have been accepted. Additional copies
are available at cost.
